John Maxwell Coetzee[a] (lahir 9 Februari 1940) merupakan novelis, penulis esei, pengkritik sastera, linguis, peerjemah, professor dan Hadiah Nobel dalam Kesusasteraan 2003. Beliau berpindah ke Australia pada 2002 dan menetap di Adelaide. Beliau menjadi rakyat Australia pada 2006.[2]
Pada tahun 2013, Richard Poplak dari Daily Maverick menggambarkan Coetzee sebagai "tidak dapat dikatakan pengarang bahasa Inggeris yang paling terkenal dan dihiasi".[3] Sebelum menerima Hadiah Nobel dalam Kesusasteraan 2003, Coetzee telah dianugerahkan Hadiah Jerusalem, Hadiah CNA (tiga kali), Prix Femina étranger, The Irish Times International Fiction Prize dan Hadiah Booker Prize (dua kali), antara anugerah lain.
